Code Academy Certificate Verification

A certificate is only worth something if an employer can trust it. Paper certificates are easy to copy, and nobody wants to phone an institute to confirm one.

We needed a way for anyone to check a Code Academy certificate in seconds, on a phone — without logging in, and without a server to maintain.

• A fast, mobile-first static site built with Tailwind CSS.
• Student records kept in a single structured JSON file.
• Look-up by certificate ID, showing the student's name, completion, attendance rate and projects, with a clear Verified credential badge.
• A small QR code generator (qrcode.js) that creates a code for each verification link, ready to print on the certificate.
• No backend or database, so it can be hosted almost anywhere and loads instantly.

• 46 student credentials were published and can be checked by ID or QR code.
• Those records have since been imported into the Code Academy platform — matched by student ID so nobody was duplicated — where certificate verification is now built in.
